Re-cast as an E&P company with the sale of 19 oil terminals and closure of the refinery at Port Reading, New Jersey, January 28, 2013. In 2012, sold $2.4 billion in assets, including in the North Sea and Azerbaijan, and announced the closure of a refining joint venture in the US Virgin Islands, at St Croix. Also plans to sell a Russian subsidiary and properties in the Eagle Ford shale oilfields of Texas. Built by Leon Hess with a focus on refining & marketing of gasoline and products, particularly in the northeast U.S., starting with a single delivery truck. Formerly AMERADA HESS CORP. until March 2006.
